lyrics

Walked through town, at the moment when the gardeners
took their lunch breaks
Not a person in this town, gardens ‘less they’re paid for it

Walked through some city while the sun, dragged my shadow
Down to a puddle at my feet
And I lived all summer in a day,
And it rained and it washed some thoughts I thought of
As a whole, into pieces, never quite the same

I tied a string to a photograph, walked forward twenty years
Like I could follow it back
But memories grow, wild as prairie, tangled and unconcerned
With anything but light

Summers draw me out like yarn, pulling thin until it fades
Into spiderweb which grids, and grows stronger
Summers ebb and flow
And my thoughts fall fallow in the haze
